A group of environmental and human rights organizations have developed a free online training platform to help companies achieve sustainable supply chains. The Accountability Framework initiative’s new e-learning portal offers a range of educational modules for companies that produce or source agricultural or forestry commodities.
Drawing from the Accountability Framework’s good practices, the platform provides an accessible and engaging way for company staff to grow their knowledge on ethical and responsible supply chain topics.
“The Accountability Framework outlines seven essential actions companies must take to meet the expectations of their customers, consumers, and investors,” said Senior Operations Manager Adrienne Brown. “To support companies on their sustainability journeys, our e-learning platform modules teach corporate professionals how to set goals, take action, and report progress towards safeguarding forests, other natural ecosystems, and human rights.”
The platform features modular online learning, topic specific learning pathways, and access to supporting resources. Learners can start with an introduction to the Accountability Framework, then explore modules on setting and strengthening supply chain goals; establishing company systems; managing commodity production; and managing supply chains. Additional modules in development will cover collaboration; monitoring and verification; reporting progress; and other topics.
Learners can curate a library of training modules based on their needs and interests, and will be signposted to helpful resources from the Accountability Framework initiative. With specific guidance on what actions to take next, learning does not end when a module is completed.
The Accountability Framework initiative is a collaborative programme to achieve supply chains that are protective of forests, other natural ecosystems, and human rights. It works with companies, civil society, and other key stakeholders to support this transition in the agriculture and forestry sectors.
